Re: [MacPerl] estimating printed width of some text

You do not know that I also have to work with X Windows,
help out people using Windows v3.1, '95, and also work with
schools who use older computers like //e's and //gs's. So I
use the lowest common demoninator - which is to know a
simple method to do this mathematically. :-) However,
Brian's method probably works better than mine. Mine just
works on all platforms fairly well. (Though to be truthful
- my way does sometimes leave large gaps at the end - like
when you are using Helvetica narrow.) :-)

And as for walking up hill both ways through the snow to
school - heh - I did use to walk about a mile to school in
Georgia when I was around five or six. And our school was
nothing more than a converted barn. At least - that is what
it looked like. Air Force brat here. The air force base
was the one in Valdosta Georgia. Schinoot I think. Though
we moved from one place to the other every five or so years
so it is hard to keep the base names correct. If you ever
go through Valdosta Georgia - don't go east on any of the
back roads. Unless you happen to like swamps. My dad used
to take us in there. Couldn't stand it. But he was raised
in the swamps in Florida. Didn't bother him. :-)
