Given that the mailing list daemon automatically rejects messages over a
certain length, there is not so much to fear from this.

Pay up! We've had some quite large attachments in the past :-) However, the
thread has certainly taken more bandwidth than the attachment we're discusssing
right now.

My position on attachments is:

 - Keep them short (~4K is tolerable).
 - If possible, consider posting plain text instead.
 - Whatever you do, don't post HTML :-)
