Oh, good eye.  I have actually built expat, it appears, several times.  :-)

Speaking of Mozilla, its build is now AppleScript-free.  I wrote
CodeWarriorLib.pm to replace the compiled AS library CodeWarriorLib, and it
is now being used for the build.
