I have a long time acquaintance who's written a program which is desperately in need of a real user interface. I proposed to prototype a UI in MacPerl, and idea which he didn't seem to be particularly enamored with (to put it lightly). Other than pointing him in the direction of MPPE, and insisting the any perceived inelegance to Perl programs reflects more on the self-discipline of the particular programmer rather than any flaw in the language itself (and expressing my preference for working in MacPerl). I have very little ammunition with which to persuade him. He asked the following, to which I need a clear and cogent answer. > What is the MacPerl GUI API? Is it something standard or is some kind of direct > access to the Mac toolbox? I haven't explored what he means by 'something standard'. Ports of the program in question (apparently in C, although I don't have the source yet), exist for Windows and Unix, and I suspect my acquaintance wants a fully portable GUI as well (tall order, yes). Any clarification on this would be MOST welcome. # Fungal Parataxonomy Mycology Information (Mycoinfo) # Webmaster, Staff Writer **The World's First Mycology E-Journal** # <mailto:webmaster@mycoinfo.com> <http://www.mycoinfo.com/> # "A couple of guys trying to do something great..." ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
