Howdy folks, I've just noticed that my copy of the MacPerl appl (5.2.0r4), attempting to run under Mac OS 8.1 with minimal extensions on a PowerPC, becomes extremely tempermental when Appleshare Server 4.2.1 is running concurrently. Some days the program dies instantly whenever I attempt to start it in any way, sometimes it doesn't crash until I try to actually run a script, and very occasionally it mysteriously runs smoothly for quite a while (almost an hour!) Running other programs in addition to the feuding two has quasi-predicatible effects on which of these three states it is in... The most annoying thing os that when I put up WebStar/WebLock as well, and try to run Perl CGI scripts, the crashes invariably bring the whole system to a halt. They leave behind any one of the various system errors or simply stop responding and confuse the Finder greatly. If any of you have any ideas, you may just be able to save this server from being converted to Linux.
