It should also be included in perl5.004_05 (when it is released) and it is
the recommended method in perlport.pod (also in perl5.005).

suntar is the program I use for creating tar files, and you tell it whether
you are adding a text or binary file.  Stuffit Expander seems to untar
based on the file extension from Internet Config, giving the file the right
file type/creator and converting newlines as needed, which is the method I
think is probably the best (unless you happen to dislike IC :-).
