Or... you could do it the way I prefer to do it:

use POSIX;

print strftime("%Y-%m-%d-%T%p\n",localtime());

strftime() permits major control on the output of time.
Try it, you'll like it :-)!

man strftime on your local unix box will give the
meaning of the various selectors.
