'was exactly the answer I needed. Whilst I'd tried everything else, 
including talking to the Mac nicely (well, that was the *first* thing I 
tried, obviously... ;-) and doing a small, but well-rehearsed, dance in 
praise of King Larry and ArchDeacon Neeracher, the only thing I hadn't 
done was point the browser numerically at the machine itself.
