It's really rather pointless, since Perl is far more powerful than Applescript and Applescript is so unlike other common languages. There's little of what you know from Applescript that's applicable to Perl (or Tcl, Python, C, Fortran, Usertalk, etc.). If you want to learn Perl, learn Perl. Sit down with a book and learn Perl. "MacPerl: Power and Ease" is probably your best bet, and it's online, but "Learning Perl" would be a fine choice (but watch for lurking Unixisms in the examples). I find that it *really* helps if there's something that I actually want to do with a language, since it gives me something concrete to work on that will be used when it gets done.
