Sorry guys, if I sounded as if I'm giving a lecture in my previous post about "?:" operator. What I tried to say before, was that I personally find "?:" "necessary" for the reason that it is semantically different than "if then else". The other opinion I threw, was that "code-formating/syntax variety" is not a very important issue and should be avoided more and more. I think it's not important because it is something the computer can do for us. i.e. language parser should be able to scan code and reformat it to one's liking. I tried to express my opinions in an informative way, so that non-participating readers of this mailing list who are perl beginners may see what I meant too. I didn't mean to oppose anyone's statements. Xah, xah@best.com http://www.best.com/~xah/PageTwo_dir/more.html PS I often like to write in a formal way as a writing experiment. The arrogant air is not intentional. Some people find writing in a litrary style fun (which sparks warmth), and I sometimes try an extreme dry writing style for fun.
