Re: [MacPerl] learning UNIX concepts

Hello All,

Sorry for being off-topic, but ... :-)

Yes, Selena is a guy names Eric.

Selena's book, "Instant Web Scripts using PERL/CGI" is good, but not
great. I have yet to be able to un-tar one of the scripts from the
accompanying CD and have it work. PERL syntax errors seem to be the
cause. Once I realized that, I decided to use the logic behind the
programs, while writing my own code. And as a kinestetic learner, coding
is the best way of learning, at least for me (and 40% of the population).

Now for something on-topic.

A little while ago, I queried the group about a problem I was having with
POP3Client.pm. It was suggested by Paul Schinder that I switch to
Net::POP3. (Thank you Paul) I did so and encountered a new problem that
Andy Berkvam explained to me. (Thank you Andy) I now have a script that
can access my agency's POP3 server. And, you guessed it, I have a new
problem. I want to access an email server that uses APOP. Is there a
module that someone can suggest uses APOP? Is it in the MacPerl lib
folder?

My thank to all who have helped.

Elton
