Pudge notes: >If Unix were included in one category, Mac OS would be a clear third. >The only two in the top 10 that are not Unix are Win32 and Mac OS. True. OTOH, if Unix were included in one category, the relative numbers for Windows and Mac OS would be far lower than they are right now. For instance, in this set: Respondents so far: 395 Top 10 most used platforms Linux 234 Win 95, 98, NT 191 Solaris 173 MacOS 131 SunOS 116 Free-, Net-, OpenBSD 67 HP-UX 57 IRIX 53 AIX 47 DEC Unix, OSF/1 44 The aggregated numbers would look something like: Unixish 791 Win 95, 98, NT 191 MacOS 131 Actually, the numbers would look a bit worse, because most of the OSs BELOW the top 10 are also Unixish... In any event, MacPerl is still holding onto fourth place, having beaten back a brief flurry of SunOS activity. -r Rich Morin: rdm@cfcl.com, +1 650-873-7841, http://www.ptf.com/~rdm Prime Time Freeware: info@ptf.com, +1 408-433-9662, http://www.ptf.com MacPerl: http://www.ptf.com/macperl, http://www.ptf.com/ptf/products/MPPE MkLinux: http://www.mklinux.apple.com, http://www.ptf.com/ptf/products/MKLP ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
