Kjartan, Working backwards through your message: > By the way I can copy the file via the desktop. I assume from this, you are using NFSShare or similar unix/ Macintosh file sharing??? You should probably explain this a bit more... > ...and the resource fork was lost. This sounds indicative of a typical mac-to-unix kind of transfer... since the unix file system doesn't grok resource forks... NFSShare and other mac file servers tend to manage dual fork files as two files in the unix file system. Sounds like using filehandles may bypass the filesharing interfaces or otherwise ignore the resource fork... > The resulting file on the Unix computer was approx. 1 Meg > shorter than the original... Shorter in what way? Was it an application or other resource intensive file, where only the resource didn't make it, or was part of the data fork missing? > I've been trying to copy files to a Unix computer using > MacPerl. So far there has been no success. I use File::Copy > and I am successful in copying to a computer running NT. So can we assume it is the same code? We need more information, I think. jay ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
