[MacPerl] Beating a dead horse - smaller binaries

I have several unix style scripts that I need to run on a mac that has
1.4 Mb of memory free. Currently the script or application needs at
least 1.5 Mb to run. There isn't anything memory intensive about the
scripts and they don't use any modules. Is there anyway to get a
barebones build or any work around out there?
