I seem to recall having once used a little exstension call "Forker" to do 
this.  Basically it gave ResEdit the ability to read the data fork of 
files.  It's long gone, but there are a couple of neat programs on 
Info-Mac (HexEdit 1.2 and GeneralEdit Lite) that will do the trick.
