I agree with much of what you say. My purposes are twofold: 1. To play a little devil's advocate 2. To bring up real problems with the proposed system So far I haven't done too much of (2). :) I am just pointing out how this system does not solve all the problems. CGIs are still somewhat problematic, because most of these will still not have their own creator ID, if you do a lot of web work, so they are still sharing an interpreter, or communicating via process ID. Installation of apps still requires some extra work to get modules installed. etc. I think it is a worthy goal, and I hope that someone attempts it, and that we can discuss the real nuts and bolts of it on one of the new mailing lists (coming soon! :). In a somewhat related story, one man, IIRC, made a Perl plugin for CodeWarrior under contract using the MacPerl sources, and I wish that Metrowerks would release that project to us. :( -- Chris Nandor mailto:pudge@pobox.com http://pudge.net/ %PGPKey = ('B76E72AD', [1024, '0824090B CE73CA10 1FF77F13 8180B6B6']) ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
