On the whole, you are probably correct and I guess that most shareware authors accept that the point of diminishing returns is reached rather quickly when screwing around with copy protection schemes. What's annoying is that the simple ten minutes til penetration piracy barrier that I could put into an AppleScript/FaceSpan version of my application would take care of most of my concerns, but I can't do that in MacPerl even tho the end product would at least be faster, if not better. Maybe I've gotten spoiled by being able to "time bomb" the last deliverable of a custom FileMaker system so that I know that I'll get paid out as agreed. The bomb could be defused, of course, but that typically would cost more than making me happy would, so it's pretty effective in dealing with the odd client who thinks he is going to renegotiate the final payment.
