On the MACSCRPT mailing list, which deals mostly with Applescript, the subject of Applescripts that broke on OS8.x, gets mentioned a lot. As I've understood, they've been succesfuil in ironing out the worst bugs out of AS, but it's still not as reliable on OS8.x, as it was on OS7.x.
