The stack trace certainly indicated that it was AS code that had gone wrong, and the Perl tool worked up till now. I suppose running within the MPW shell might make a difference to the general environment in which the code is executing. Hang on, there's an idea! ... and the winners of today's Spot The Bug contest are - Bart and me! I've just run my script 7 times in a row from the MacPerl app itself, and my Mac's still running. Time to hop over to the mpw-dev list, I guess!
