I remember similar problems awhile back with an MPW tool that compiled applescripts. If I remember, the problem had something to do with the fact connects and disconnects from the OSA component everytime it is run by the component allocates some persistent data in the app heap and gets confused by the fact that the tool is etherial while the app sticks around.
