How about: You said that you are running this with MPW Shell 3.5d6 and I assume that you are using ToolServer 3.5d6 as well. This is Preview Release stuff and maybe there is something odd about it versus the MacPerl MPW Tool in the context of what you are trying to do? If your problems arose about the time you installed the Preview Release, that would be suggestive of some relationship (tho I am also using it and haven't had any bad things happen). What happens if you just run your script from MacPerl itself and bypass MPW altogether?
