That works! There's a message wending its way through the list server to that effect at the moment. It seems to take quite a while for mail to be out. Well spotted, though! I don't know whether the MPW shell being a preview is significant, because I switched to that before starting the present work. One interesting thing is that I can run my application from the MPW shell, using "app -wait filename", without any problems. That suggests that *some* AppleEvent things work in the shell, so maybe the problem could be in the MacPerl tool after all?
