Parts I and II can be done by people without ever doing programming. Part III requires more experience and knowledge. My personal recommendations for new programmers using MacPerl are: * MacPerl: Power and Ease * The Perl Cookbook (I think all Perl programmers should have it, but it is not a tutorial; makes a perfect companion to Perl programming, IMO) * Get Programming Perl, Perl in a Nutshell, and/or the online docs (the online docs can be used instead of those two books) There is a free Perl tutorial in the works, but it is not ready to be looked at by beginners. :) > Get onto IRC (don't ask how here. Note that the active #perl channel is on EFNet. The #perl channel is a fine resource, but you need to learn on your own first. Residents don't take kindly to asking really basic questions and FAQs, though they are glad to point you to where you can learn more. There is also a #macperl channel, which is much less active, but is a good place for discussing MacPerl when people are around. >For a tutor in Boston: > > Visit http://www.pm.org and find out when the Boston Perl Mongers next meet. > Show up and ask nicely. There will be experts among them. :) We do not have regular meetings at Boston Perl Mongers, but we do meet every month or so irregularly. Go to http://boston.pm.org/ and join the mailing list if you like. -- Chris Nandor mailto:pudge@pobox.com http://pudge.net/ %PGPKey = ('B76E72AD', [1024, '0824090B CE73CA10 1FF77F13 8180B6B6']) ===== Want to unsubscribe from this list? ===== Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to macperl-request@macperl.org
