I am sitting in front of a very handsome book entitled "MacPerl". Well, there are some Japanese characters following the title, but my keyboard doesn't seem to have them (:-). Anyway, the authors are our own Vicki Brown and Chris Nandor, the text is translated into Japanese (interspersed with bits of Perl!), and the paintings used on the cover are the same ones (by Delight Prescott) that grace the English-language edition. All told, it's a very handsome product, published by ASCII Books, part of ASCII, the large Japanese publishing organization. It is available from the normal Japanese book sales channels. One of the more pleasant touches, in my estimation, is the fact that almost _everything_ (including most of the quotes) has been translated. Only the Perl code, the screen shots, and the disc's contents have been left untranslated. Aside from looking very handsome (IMHO), the book should be very useful to Japanese MacPerl users, both prospective and current.
