You start at CPAN, of course:

cpan> i /PDF/
Distribution    ANTRO/PDF-109.tgz
Distribution    M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz
Module          PDF             (ANTRO/PDF-109.tgz)
Module          PDF::Array      (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Bool       (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Core       (ANTRO/PDF-109.tgz)
Module          PDF::Dict       (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::File       (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Filter     (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Name       (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Number     (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Objind     (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Page       (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::Pages      (ANTRO/PDF-109.tgz)
Module          PDF::Parse      (ANTRO/PDF-109.tgz)
Module          PDF::SFont      (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::String     (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)
Module          PDF::TTFont     (M/MH/MHOSKEN/pdf-0.01.tar.gz)

But I don't know if any of these 1) do what you want, 2) work under
MacPerl.

You should also hunt around at Adobe's web site. I think I remember
reading that they're pushing PDF as a standard on some standard's
track, so you might find some documentation on the format there.
