Believe it.

I once tried to install MWP, and the free space before and after the
install differed by around 32Mb. The results depend on the sectore size
of your hard disk, anyway: the larger the sector size, the more waste.

That would be nice.

I just can't see why a shell alone would need 8Mb. 200k would be more
like what I'd expect.

And all I'd be interested in, is the shell functionality, and
ToolServer.
