I guess the way I was looking at it is two-fold: (a) if your programming book budget allows for ~10 books a year, and Perl doesn't account for more than 15-20% of what you do, would this book make the cut? and; (b) where does it fall on the scale of currently available Perl books? If you had to pick 3 of them, would this one make it?
