Really off topic, and probably no one really cares, but... Just a little note about WHY my MacPerl is an interesting shade of mauve: First of all, the "Window Background" settings in BBEdit are what I'm really talking about. They are: 80% Red 60% Green 80% Blue Oddly enough this is a web-safe color "#cc99cc". Some years ago, I encountered an elderly man by the name of Avram Davidson. Avram had built a small name for himself, but alas no fortune, as a science-fiction and fantasy writer, and having spent time in the veteran's home in Retsil, WA, had moved to a small apartment in Bremerton, where he spent the last years of his life. His vision was failing, and though he knew the value of a computer for the kind of detailed background-building he liked to do in his writing, the green-screen or amber-screen displays of the time were too high-contrast for him, and made him uncomfortable. Even at his typewriter, he was forced to use pastel-colored paper, which he found easier on his eyes. I heartily suggest seeking out a copy of his "The Phoenix and the Mirror," BTW. Anyway, when I started to experience eye-strain from too many hours in front of my CRT, I remembered old Avram, and quickly adjusted my BBEdit text colors to give me a nice pale pastel background. I change it every so often, but I find that mauve is very gentle on my eyes. So you see, I was only being silly in part. My MacPerl really is mauve, and for a good reason. --B # Fungal Parataxonomy Mycology Information (Mycoinfo) # Webmaster, Staff Writer **The World's First Mycology E-Journal** # <mailto:webmaster@mycoinfo.com> <http://www.mycoinfo.com/> # # First they ignore you.
