So you're probably right about this being better as an external library, which, alas, I'm not willing to write. However, there are a couple popular (and free) sprite libraries for the Mac, and one of them might be coerced into service, if the need arises, which it hasn't (yet) Let's see: sprites, player interaction, physics, collisions...
