There are none.  The MacPerl window is not a terminal.  It is just a window
of text.

Thanks for the reply. But - if there are no control characters and the MacPerl window is not a terminal emulation, then why do "\b" (backspace) and "\a" work properly (as under Unix) when printed? Now I am really curious: are "\b" and "\a" the only control characters that work in the mere text window of MacPerl?
