> >Thanks, Mr McN ... so a BBEdit will also pass the control switches on the >first line of a window/block to MacPerl? I'm impressed. Much appreciated. Yes, but see Ronald Kimball's comments. I was half-asleep when posting and got the meaning ot the switches reversed among other things. Not only that, I did it TWICE, in two different posts, leading to accusations that I hadn't read the POD. BBEdit passes the ENTIRE script as an AppleEvent to MacPerl, and that INCLUDES the #! line, so yes, it works. I pulled an all-nighter last night, mostly because two (or maybe three) simultaneous (or nearly so) events. Yesterday afternoon, Mycoinfo's webhost (Digital.Forest, which is also providing web hosting for Adam Engst's TidBITS, BTW) moved our site (along with everyone else with whom we share the server) to a brand-new PowerMac G4. During the switch-over the FTP server was down (the site was still accessible byt the web, though). Simultaneously, I'd just completed a site-wide update, and EVERY page needed to be uploaded. That, obviously had to wait until the FTP server was back. Hence around 9PM (due to the fact that I have choir rehersal in the evening on Wednesdays (yes, I have a LIFE)) I began to update the site. This morning, around 5AM locally, the local public-access freenet, KRL.ORG, which for legacy reasons I alias my virtual POP3's to, was down for FIVE HOURS while they COMPLETELY REWIRED their facility! My mail from the MacPerl list comes through my primary ISP, thankfully. However, knowing in advance that the POP3 server at KRL would be down all morning, I got up early to get as much work done as possible (Since almost all the @mycoinfo.com addresses are actually aliased to bmcnett@krl.org, shutting down KRL means effective shutting down Mycoinfo.) As a result, I got very little sleep. My apologies for the resulting incoherency! Normally I really *do* know what I'm talking about. --B BTW, there was actually more going on than that, but I'd either have to have the list sign an NDA, or go around killing you all after disclosing it. Besides, this post is already so increadibly off-topic, that even my much-vaunted ability to write simultaineous off-topic/on-topic posts can't save it ;-) (uh, actually the first LINE of the post is on-topic...)
