Perhaps you should look at
<http://www.macperl.org/depts/Code/#_Auth>

for a lot of MacPerl examples.  In particular, Alan Fry and Kevin Reid's
examples typically make use of GUI elements.  There are memory leaks, if I
recall the mention on the list correctly, in the Mac Dialog parts.
