As far as discussing tricks and editors and bandwidth dedicated thereof,
which appears to be the main thrust of your post, in a previous post I
sent this:

quoting myself:

so please be a bit more accurate with your sarcasm and check the archives
before posting :-). I too download postings talking about things which have
nothing to do with how I use MacPerl, but that's the logistics of
majorities.

Talking as myself and not a spokesperson for any group, official or not - I
said in another post (regarding 8-bit characters and Alpha ) I don't use
Alpha to view the script output, I set it to make MacPerl the foremost app
when running scripts, and as of yet I haven't found the need to find
another way of dealing with this. BBedit I don't use, so I don't know

>And if so: HOW can I get the same for colorful sizy styly scripty TexEdit?
I don't know, I don't use text edit.

why not explain how to set it up so that it will do this? as I for one will
change if I find an editor that does the job better than the one I use at
the moment. However one thing I will say about Alpha regarding keeping tabs
on scripts, is it is able to update script version numbers if you use the
internal formatting of Alpha itself - in other words you can define a
script header which includes Alpha recognised variables and each time you
save the document Alpha will increment the version number.
