I too am sorry if this is off-topic, but I just couldn't let it go by without some comment... Wow! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this, "FWIW, I am running MacOS 9.04 on an original iMac SE, and I find it fairly unstable in general." I have been using a 1999 iMac DV upgraded to MacOS 9.0.4 as my main machine, email, web surfing, making iMovies, connecting to work via NiftyTelnet, news reading, etc, etc and have found it rock stable. I wish my Windows machine was 1/2 this good. I find the iMac to be almost as stable as my Redhat 6.2 Linux machine, and actually less buggy with respect to the GUI...
