[MacPerl-WebCGI] Perl on OS X

Hi all,

I'm not a unix/perl guru so if some of this seems lame, please bear with me
as I'm trying to understand this.

I've been playing with perl on OS X beta for a few days now and have a few
comments and questions.

First, do I need the "Make" utility to install a module like GD.pm. OS X
beta doesn't include this, (GD or Make) which is too bad because GD is great
stuff.

I'm sure I need to install and compile GD.lib and some other C code stuff to
make GD.pm work. Anyone accomplished this yet. How about ImageMagik?

To compile some of these apps I think I need something like the gcc
compiler. This also does not come with the beta. Can it be used? Has anyone
tried to install and compile anything with gcc? Are there other options like
codewarrior?

And finally, I searched the Macperl list for "OS X" with the Sherlock plugin
and there were no results. Will Macperl release there own version of perl
for OS X? One that might include a more complete set of built-in modules? I
sure hope so. You know, I might even pay for something like that. (Hint
Hint ;)

Thanks,
