I've been trying to think out a way to let two people telnet from my one PPP connection. Preferably I wouldn't have to devote a lot of disk space to something like MacBSD and I wouldn't have to get a second phone line. I think a terminal server written in MacPerl, or else in C using GUSI, would do just what I want. A terminal (or emulator) on the printer port would talk to the terminal server, which in turn would talk to the network and manage a telnet connection. I guess a very simple telnet server would work for me - when there is no open connection it might allow the user to type an IP address and port as a line; when there is an open connection it might watch for closing and let the user initiate closing by typing ^]. Otherwise it could just copy data back and forth. It wouldn't have to be blazingly fast, either. Has anyone written a terminal server for MacPerl, however simple? Is there support for serial ports for MacPerl? -- Aaron Mansheim, MS exp '97, Computational Sciences, Radford University <mailto:a-manshe@runet.edu> <http://www.runet.edu/~a-manshe/>
