There are a couple canned solutions: 1. Vicom Internet Gateway <http://www.vicomtech.com/vig.main.html> There were reports on comp.sys.mac.comm that this works well even with an SE/30 hosting the connection. It's Mac based, and relatively simple to set up. The only catch is the price tag. A starter pack w/ 5 simultaneous users is $399. <http://www.vicomtech.com/vig.order.html> 2. Linux Firewall/IP Masquerade <http://www.linux.org/> You can set up Linux on a PC or MkLinux on a Nubus PowerMac. If you care about security, you can use either TIS or SOCKS to set up a firewall. Otherwise, you can compile the IP forwarding feature into the kernel, and use IP Masquerade. The advantage is that it's free and flexible. You can use it as a full blown InterNet gateway, so you can not only telnet, but ftp, mail, news, web browsing, etc. The disadvantage is that it requires a substantial amount of Unix expertise. Personally, I opted for Linux. I use it for InterNet gateway, web server, mail server, AppleShare file server (using Netatalk). Since this is not strictly MacPerl related, if you have any further question regarding these two options. We can continue this thread via email.
