[MacPerl] MacPerl and GUI

Just a curiosity.  Now that we have these new GUI modules, does that mean
that it would be possible to recreate the MacPerl environment using Perl?
I really like the idea of having a completely customizable environment in
which Perl can be used as the customizing language.

Would there be any disadvantages to this?  Is this even possible with the
current implementation of MacPerl?
