Yes.

Of what?  I think some of the Linux distributions come with it these 
days.

Yes, it translates CR/LF stuff.  But, (und this is a big but) that 
can lead to translating said characters in your gif's and jpeg's and 
hqx's and whatnot unless you're careful, and that's a bad thing, so I 
compile it with the translation turned off.  If you're looking for

There are a lot of other pages, but those provide you with most of 
what you'd want to know.  Incidentally, I use version 1.4b2, without 
any problems.
