I have to say I think that is a bit of a shame.  I would like to see CPAN hold all the useful MacPerl modules that aren't part of the distribution.

I do see your point, however.  Oh well.  :/

Maybe at some point we can make a MacCPAN ... ?  But that would duplicate a lot of the effort already existing in CPAN.

As to the powers that be at CPAN: Andreas Koenig was more than happy at one point to accept .sit.hqx files for inclusion on CPAN, but there is no UNIX version of Stuffit.  Blame Aladdin for that.

Anyway, once Compress::Zlib gets ported to MacPerl (and CPAN.pm gets rewritten for Compress::Zlib), then it should all be a much easier process.  We'd still have to do some rewriting, but I can see the process being easier for MacPerl in the not-too-distant future.
