Is there a way to do it? I do not know. On my PPC at home I have read IBM PC floppies before using MacPerl. True, he might be having a problem on his machine. He might have a 68k system. But he might also not have PC Exchange. Without it you can transfer files via the Apple File Exchange program but you can't read the floppy directly. However, you can start up MacPerl, pop in the floppy after starting the program, and the system will not complain because it is in the middle of running a program. The Mac though, won't be able to read the diskette. For myself, I have read IBM PC floppies before using MacPerl. I've done it to also create files to move to my Linux box and to my wife's IBM PC running Windows 3.1 (originally) and Windows'95 (presently). But I must admit I do not do this every day and I am sure there is a great deal of things which I have not encountered that could cause problems with MacPerl. I guess I'm just lucky? *shrug* Who knows. The entire operation though can be handled a lot faster and a lot more efficiently by not using MacPerl at all. ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
