Hello Vicki and fellow MacPerlophiles, Golly, a discussion about community - how fun! :-) Two cents: Avoid a new listserv, but try to be tolerant of other platforms. Two reasons: - MacPerl is a variant of a language whose standard lives on UNIX. MacPerl needs the publicity of UNIX Perl and ironically keeping the link open may encourage developers to try Macs. - Some of us live on multiple platforms. MacPerl is so wonderful that it may be the best Perl development environment - period. Part of the business of encouraging the use of MacPerl is helping people reach their final destination. As least, we need to be open to issues related to the MacPerl side of the port. How to do this? A new convention for subject headers? All porting questions start with: [MacPerl->LINUX] or whatever? The people who aren't interested in porting issues can set their mailers to kill all messages with "MacPerl->". Of course nothing is ever perfect, but this would seem to be a minimalist scheme that addresses everyone's concerns . . sort of, kinda, maybe, . . . ??? :-) Perls of wisdom be with you!! :-) Edouard :-) . - - - . . . - - - . . . - - - . . . - - - . . . - - - . : Edouard Lagache : : UCSD Extension : : elagache@weber.ucsd.edu : :...................................................................: : Laws of Applied Confusion: : : 3rd Corollary: : : Never argue with the fabricating plant about an error. : : The inspection prints were all checked off, even to the : : holes that _aren't_ there. : . - - - . . . - - - . . . - - - . . . - - - . . . - - - . ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
