So I need to ask, if it matters to you, why not just use >MacPerl::SetFileInfo to get exactly what you want every time? Why do people use=20 =09while(<>) { =09} instead of the functionality they really mean? Because it's far easier to type. If I write 10 MacPerl scripts in a day, I don't want to have to type in the SetFileInfo line every single time. And for me, doubleclicking on a file to see what I got, is far easier than having to drag it on a program icon, which could be on the other end of the screen. Imagine having to do this tens of times in a day, before you get it right. It happens to me. Even when I know that it ought to have worked, I STILL open the files to see what it did. SetFileInfo is good for exceptional cases. Like the times when I create Postscript files. But plain text is the common case. So I want a usable text editor, not Simpletext, to open the files, by default. =09Bart. ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
