'Cause if it's MacPerl, I've certainly got a bunch of apps that put "boatloads of 'undocumented files' in a folder out in user land". MacPerl's files are actually quite well documented (if you rtfd). >That's an idea. As I recall, Tcl/Tk puts all of its files in the >Extensions or the Preferences folder. My System Folder is 229 MB as it is. It contains over 2000 (yes, 2000!) items. Many of which are shared libraries and things that are _not_ loadable extensions but some Asanine program has stuck them in the Extensions folder because they couldn't think of a better way. Every so often I wander through with Conflict Catcher wondering what I can throw away. My Eudora Folder is an alias to the real Eudora Folder. My Claris folder can't be because _some_ Claris apps recognize the alias and some don't :-( I can't even back up my System Folder onto 2 Zip disks anymore. YUCK. </small rant> There is an Applications Folder lockdown too. If you insist, use that. Or get one of the security program that hides/locks individual folders, such as FolderGuard. --- Vicki Brown <vlb@cfcl.com> |\ _,,,---,,_ Journeyman Sourceror ZZZzz /,`.-'`' -. ;-;;,_ Scripts & Philtres |,4- ) )-,_. ,\ ( `'-' P.O.
