I never edit this way, but then, "never say never", I always say... so I decided to fix my "Suffix Mappings..." in Alpha - just in case. Well, I started out just verifying that Alpha was duped by the " [Perl]" suffix... it was. So I adjusted my mappings and tried again... Next, my window popped up with " [Perl] #2" extension. "Darn... I guess I have to quit MacPerl or Alpha, first", I think to myself... So I do this and try again. This time the window is named with a " [perl] #3" extension... "What's up with this?", I ask myself. Then I find that all three files I tried to edit are in an invisible directory called "temporary items" at my root directory. I can't make the directory visible for some reason. None of my usual tools can see it, but Find File can and I can't delete the files... I assume they will go away once I reboot... but I never reboot!!! "Never say never", I always say... Is it MacPerl that is creating these temporary files? Is there some (more elegant) method of purging them? Any advice for me, in case I ever do this thing that I never do, again? Patient- "Doctor! Doctor! It hurts when I do this." Doctor- "Don't do that!" jay ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
