>This is not the end of the world, but rather odd and a bit inconvenient. Any >thoughts? It's something that's annoyed me for a long time, and I'm gonna hack the system sooner or later and fix it. When you run MPW, the default text type on the machine becomes MPW. New files made by MacPerl (and anything that doesn't specicically set the creator type but DOES set the filetype to TEXT) are owned by MPW. I deleted all my copies of Simpletext, and told the OS to translate text to BBEdit, and I still have to get one of those "Choose an application to open this file..." dialogs every time I open a text file. The only way I know of to get rid of the problem is deleting MPW and either rebuilding the desktop (something I haven't tried yet) or reinstalling the system software. When I get the hack working I'll put it up here. - strider( corinth ); Seeing isn't believing- believing is seeing. | --+-- | | ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
