I'm wondering whether there's a standard way to print via TCP? I don't have access to the TCP printer in question, but I want to have a solution ready when I meet with my client. One scenario I envision is merely opening a socket on the printer and sending postscript information directly. This would be easy to do with a MacPerl droplet. I'm curious as to whether there's additional information I'd have to transfer to the printer or (and this would be optimal) a chooser-based solution is available. I looked, for instance, at LaserWriter 8 and didn't see a way to use it to select non-AppleTalk printers. Am I missing something with the LaserWriter driver or is there a different driver for TCP printers? I realize the answer is likely to be off topic for this list, so it would probably be best to reply to me directly.
