|Is anyone else concerned about memory and Perl? Yes, I'd have to say that if I were making the list of things to work on in MacPerl for Matthias, I would put memory at the top, both using temp. memory and handling out of memory situations better. I have enough memory so I can give MacPerl a lot when I need to, but not so much that I can just set it at 40Meg and forget it, which means I have to modify it's memory allocation often, which is a pain. It would be so much handier if I could just leave MacPerl at its "out of the box" level. Also, it doesn't always handle out of memory situations well. I've had MacPerl crash, hang my machine, and work perfectly in the face of low memory. Of course I'm not making the list for Matthias, and it's hard for me to complain when MacPerl works so well and is so useful, but I think memory handling is a rough spot that could use some smoothing.
