Hello, Thanks Paul and Chris for your feedback on this problem. >} I tried this, and still have problems with gzopen. MacPerl isn't the kind of program >that corrupts itself. Since I was in the process of installing a fresh copy of MacPerl, I went ahead and finished it. I installed Paul's module fixes, then installed cpan-mac-0.22. I set MacPerl's memory partition to 70,000K (wanted to go for overkill), and tried: cpan> install CNANDOR/GD-1.18-bin-2-MacOS.tar.gz and it worked! I'm not sure if it was a memory problem before, or a corrupted MacPerl, or an improper installation, but reinstalling everything and setting the memory partition higher seemed to work. I'll experiment with less memory next time I do another install, but for now, everything is working again. Thanks again!
