I did mean LaserWriters: 16/600, to be exact. It is a valid point, 
nevertheless, that some laser printers are not postscript printers. 
_MPPE_ assumes that your laser printer speaks postscript (p. 108).

Thank you very much for everybody's help on this -- I can now send ascii 
to the LaserWriter!
